You will need; Round-nose pliers & wire cutters (4-in-1 pliers or rosary pliers are ideal), a headpin & a bead (or beads).
Useful for; Earrings, pendants, Y-chain necklaces, Charm neckaces & dangles. Wired headpins can be joined to other wired beads at one end, wired eye-pins can be joined at each end.
Wiring beads on a headpin is as easy as...
1. Thread bead onto the headpin, the "head" should stop the bead from falling off. Bend the wire that is directly above the bead to a 45 degree angle.
NB. Sometimes a bead may have a large hole. If you are able to pull the headpin through the bead then put a smaller bead on the headpin first, this should stop your chosen bead from falling off.
2. Cut the headpin, leaving approximately 8mm of wire above the bead.
3. Using round-nose pliers grip the tip of the wire and turn the pliers so that the wire wraps around the nose of the pliers, making a loop. Adjust the loop if neccessary so that it fits snuggly next to the bead. Make sure that the loop is completely closed and that the bead is secure.
Tip; To get the most use from your headpin, and the best value, you can use any wire that you cut off, if it is long enough. The easiest way is to make a loop at the top of the headpin before you cut it, but after completing step one, you will be left with a handy eye-pin when you cut your wire. This can be used just like a headpin, but it can be connected to other beads at both ends!
